A Letter to U.S. Senator Roth |

February 26, 1999
Senator Roth 104 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Senator Roth:
Thank you for the service that you rendered in the U.S. Senate.
The Republicans had ’95, ’96, ’97, and ’98 to abolish the tyrannical IRS. Now you have 1999 and 2000 to abolish the IRS.
I am profoundly disturbed by the recent quote by the AP, Sunday, February 21st, that it will take years to reform the IRS. We are not interested in reforming the IRS. The IRS should be abolished, not reformed. You can’t reform thugs like the IRS.
Has the Republican Party not learned anything from the ’96 and ’98 setbacks? What is God going to have to do to get your attention?
In the House, you have lost seats every election cycle and now you only have a very thin majority. The Senate elections of ’98 left you with no net gain. Are you going to have to lose control of the House, Senate, and White House to get the message?
The American people are sick of your focus groups, consultants, lack of common sense, and your endless political posturing.
This letter should not be misconstrued as an attack on you; it is not. I respect you immensely. The Republican Party needs to promise to abolish the IRS and do it now!
If the Republican Party loses the Christians, small business, and its blue collar base, you will never, ever gain control again. The founder of the Free Congress Foundation is already threatening to withdraw the troops. Your political base didn’t show up for the ’96 and ’98 elections and your party lost.
Please grant me the favor of a written reply.
Sincerely,

Bryan McCanless
P.S. I respect you and thank you for taking the time to consider my letter.
